BRAND HISTORY Thorogood's roots can be traced back to 1892, when Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with partner Joseph Peffer, serving the "Jobbing" trades. Over the decades, the company has evolved, becoming a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I and introducing the iconic Hike n' Camp boot in 1964. In 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP, and in 2022, the company celebrated its 130th anniversary with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI and the launch of its first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons.
